  • Making an Oval/egg..

    I’ve never been really sure exactly how to either stretch an Torus or Sphere into a more oval shape.

    By scaling, that is.. instead of making it editable and then having to select half the points and move them.

    I can’t seem to select just the Y for example and visually drag the axis to distort the shape more towards an egg/oval shape

    What am I missing?

    Try this:
    Create a Sphere and make it editable and go into Points-Mode /
    from the Structure-Menu select the Magnet-Tool /
    in the Attributes-Manager maybe change Mode to “Dome” or “Bell” and the Radius maybe to “150m” /
    in the Toolbar uncheck X and Z and move the top point of the Sphere upwards /
    maybe experiment with the other settings as well /
    maybe drag the Sphere into a HyperNURBS for even more smoothness.

    Cheers

    Here’s a couple more ways to do an egg:

    1) Create a cube, make it editable, scale down the top face, and drop it in a HyperNURB object;

    2) Create a sphere, make it editable, scale it up a little in Y, apply a taper deformer.

    and more…

    Create a sphere but scale it with the Attribute Manager settings not the axis. Then you can apply a Taper.
