noobie question: binding problem
Hi! Sorry for the dumb noob question. But we all gotta start somewhere, right?
I’ve modeled and textured a simple spaceship using basic primitives and some lofted nurbs. I’ve parented everything to a null object called ‘spaceship.’ Then I selected everything and made all the elements editable.
What I’d like to do is use bones or joints to puppet and animate the spaceship so it bends like rubber in the middle.
I created joints using the joint tool. Then I selected all the joints, selected the null object and tried to bind. The joints only binded with one element of the ship– and not all objects in the ship.
I’ve read a bunch of tutorials and concluded that binding only works with a bunch of joints and *one* editable object at a time. Is that right?
Right now my null spaceship is made up of loftNurbs body object, loftNurbs wing object, loftNurbs thruster object etc all parented to the spaceship null.
Do I need to somehow merge all these objects into one object to make the bones/joints affect the whole thing as one piece?
I tried to select the elements and then ‘connect’ objects– but my textures got all screwed up. Have I done everything wrong?
Is there hope for me? 🙂
Thanks so much for any help.
