I am having a problem using the motion tracker which I have never had before. When I enable it I just get a black screen which means I have nothing to use as a reference to track.
The only different thing I am doing this time is I am using a still image which I used an extract matte on. Could this have anything to do with this? And is there a way I can still tack this layer to the footage?

    Thanks!

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Are you trying to track the footage or your still image?

Right-click on your video footage and choose Track Motion. Then change your “Target” to be your still image. In fact, I usually create a Null Object to store the tracking data, then use Parenting to match the move. I just find that gives me a bit more flexibility.

    Hope that helps,
    Ben

    Hey Ben,
Thanks for your help. I tried this and I managed to get the tracking data on to the layer. I can even see the tracking data at work on the layer by itself and it’s a perfect track. Yet when I look at the comp the layer does not move at all. Is this strange?

    Thanks

    Chris

Hi Chris, you might be looking at the layer window as opposed to the comp window.
    Hope this helps
