  • How Hard Is It to Create 3D Metallic Text Like This?

    Hi,
I don’t have a lot of 3D experience, but am considering getting Cinema4D to create 3D metallic text like you see in these two screen shots.

Can anyone tell me if creating this kind of realistic chrome/metal look (with light glints, reflections) is within reason for a non-expert, using Cinema 4D? I can imagine it’s pretty easy to create a 3D word, and it seems pretty straightforward to experiment with materials and light placement, but am I missing something else that should dissuade me from trying to do this on my own?

    Many thanks!

It’s not hard. But if your only purpose is to do 3D text you would be getting way more power than you need (unless you have bottomless pockets or are going to be doing more)

Metals live by their reflections and specularity. most metals don’t have any color of their own (in physical terms) so your main problem will be to find textures and create scenery that reflects in your metal.
