  Duplicate issue…

  I am trying to make an object 12 or so times to be placed around a cylinder. So I am thinking that I should use Duplicate. When I use it, I am trying to make it follow the path of a spline. Well after I hit apply it looks like a garbled mess in the center. After trying to tweak the settings I have become more confused. Should I be looking at Array for this?

  you could use the duplicate function – make a spline where you want them (use a helix spline as a start), use the “along spline” mode, and enable rotation

  you could use the array tool

  you could also use mograph and clone them on to the cylinder using object mode
