I have a job where I need to create a simple branching structure like veins or tree roots that grow. I can do this with splines, but you can always tell where the intersections are.

Anyone know of a quicker way of creating this effect so it looks seamless and organic? I am using R10 XL bundle and have MoGraph.

    Cheers,

I suggest that you find a plugin called Chamfer maker. It’s hosted on a Russian website and you need to register, but it’s free. You can then combine your branches and trunk using booleans aand throw it inside said object. It can automatically round/ blend edges based on a angel and creates perfect geometry that then can be smoothed further in a HyperNURBS. Another option might be fusionThing, a commercial plugin that will also blend different separate objects.

    Thanks Mylenium!

I’ve downloaded it but as I’m on my MacBook at the moment I’ll have to wait to try it as it doesn’t work with UB versions of R10.
