  Logo on Golf Ball

  Hi,
  I have a modeled Golf ball, and would like to place a logo on it. It always gets some kind of distorted, cause it treated like a texture. How can you put a graphic on a sphere? Well, I’m sure you guys know it. I’m a newby and a little bit dazzled by this software.

  Distortions are more or less inevitable because of the projection on spherical objects. You can only compensate for that by counter-distorting your textures in Photoshop or whatever program using e.g. the Bulge filter.

  Play with different projection methods, as you may get a good result with something other than UV. Another thing to consider: if you make your golf ball from a cube rather than a sphere, you can apply the material with a cubic projection and then you can alt-click the hypernurb and play with the subdivisions until your get a good sphere. You won’t have distortions from your material.
