Help fixing fake 30p footage in AE7
I’m working on a small documentary project with a borrowed camera that I didn’t have access to until minutes before the shoot. In setting the camera up I jumped at the chance to record progressive frames (30p).
Big mistake.
Turns out that back when the camera was made progressive frames simply meant throwing away one of the interlaced frames. Now my footage looks terrible – jaggies everywhere. Are there any preferred methods of filling in this lost resolution? I know I’m going to lose sharpness, but am hoping someone has dealt with this before and can offer some sage advice to get this stuff looking decent – at least not so aliased.

Are you absolutely certain you shot at half-rez? That would be entirely weird and totally unexpected from any reputable camera mfr.
What camera model?
I have never heard of discarding one field as an option on any progressive system, not even in the dark days. I mean, what would the point be? I’m guessing the information really is there. How did you capture the footage? From the same camera? Do you have the manual? Call the mfr? Is there a hidden output menu switch ?bogiesan

I believe you have what they call, the evil GL-1 problem. It’s a filmic way to wreck your video. Best bet is to anti-alias it with a resizer plugin.
