I know 3d cafe had globe/earth models but they are down for some reason. I know its easy to make one but before I start making it i was wondering if there are any free models available… since i’m pressed for time on this project.

    Thank you.

I have Cinema4d 9.6 and it comes with the sky plugin but I have no clue how to make it do what i want, I need to have clouds go around the earth globe…

    Please help…

What about taking your existing earth map, add a blank layer in Photoshop above the earth one. Then paint in your clouds on that empty layer (or layers if you want more depth), cloud filters are under filters>render>clouds. Probably need to make an alpha for that layer, dump the earth image, save it, and map it onto a sphere slightly larger than the earth one. I hope this in some way; but like I just posted down below, I know enough C4d to be dangerous.

I was wondering if there was a way to make the clouds have volume, so that when the camera goes through them, they behave as clouds would. The camera will zoom in to earth and the clouds will act as a transition to the next shot.

I was thinking of using the sky plugin or the Pyroclusters but I don’t know how to with both.

Thank you once again for your help

You can do it very nicely with just pyrocluster. If you have TP, you could make a sphere bigger than your earth model and have particles emit from the sphere with no speed on the particles. Add a little wind to move the clouds a bit.
