So often I see great work in C4d but walls with a stone/brick/rock texture always have that sharp, smooth straight edge that no building after a few yeas in a normal enviroment would have.

I’m trying to roughen some edges of a Plane… as if a weathered piece of paper was nailed to some phone post. I can select points/lines/planes and move them around, but then it looks more like a scissor cut type of style…angular instead of a somewhat ‘ripped and torn’ look.

I would like to do this in C4D instead of manipulaing post in Photoshop simply to get more consistent shadows.

Is there a way to do this besides adding a bunch of segments, zooming in and pushing points around?

    thanks

If you have Advanced Render, you could use SPD (sub-pixel displacement) based on a texture. You can also get some interesting results using the Noise deformer (or multiple instances of it) in combo with other deformers on a heavily subdivided plane. At least you don’t have to move all points individually. Lastly, you can also use Clothilde or softbody Dynamics, but you of course have to have the modules for this.

Another option is to select your points and then run Structure>Set Point Value. Under “All”, select Crumple (Normal), and play with the value. Then drop your plane in a HyperNURB object to smooth it out.
