We have a problem that just cropped up that we’ve never experienced before. We’re rendering from AE to a shared disk for our News Avids. If someone tried to open the movie before it wasn’t done rendering, they’d just get an error saying it wasn’t a movie file – but when it was done rendering it would open just fine.

Suddenly I’m getting an error: “Opening movie – You do not have permission to open this file -54” from my AE render. This stops my render and corrupts the movie file so that it can’t be opened at all.

We’re getting this even though NO ONE has attempted to open the file. Plus I get this error when there’s only a few frames left in the render. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it never used to happen before. I have to render to my desktop, then drag the finished movie to the Avid shared disk. Anyone else experiencing this?

    thanks,

This sounds like what was happening in Quicktime 7.3.
    Have you updated Quicktime lately?
