I desperately need to find out how to fold up / unfold a plane. My client has requested an animation of a scrunched up paper ball unfolding, and I can’t work out how to do it.

Please, please can anyone give any hints.

    Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like you’ve got two different projects there: folding a plane and scruching a paper ball. I did this little tutorial which should help with the plane–https://www.3danvil.com/box_an/bax_an002.html

As for the paper ball, that’s a tough one. Off the top of my head I’d say you’d want to use point-level animation. Can’t think how else you’d do it.

    I think Adam is right!
I would create a plane subdivide it 5 segments each and then “Function>Triangulate” call it paper.
Make a copy call it half wadded paper.
Start folding the polys in to something you like but about halfway, duplicate it and call the new object wadded paper.
Then use posemixer or pose to pose (which ever you feel most comfortable with) to morph between the 3 objects.
