MY QUESTION IS: Is there a nice way to get the mesh of a C4D model to show up in the final render? (excluding cell shader… or would that work fine?)
    ————————-

Hey all. I am a student who is working at an engineering firm this semester, they deal with finite element heat/flow analysis. In the down time i have been asked to redo all their brochures and websites. I have a lot of experience with flash and photoshop, and some experience with cinema 4d.

I would like to model and render their logos/trademarks in C4D with a surface texture as well as making the mesh visible (to keep true to the FEM theme). I could use their software here, but it has no modeling capabilities and does not anti-alias at all or shade well (basically its not for graphics 🙂 ). Im fine with the modeling, hopefully a hyper-nurbs subdivide on a well made model will produce an FEM-like mesh (or to build one in C4d would be pretty simple). I just need to render the mesh along with the surface textures.

i know i could do this by hand with vector graphics, but would be extremely tedious and tough to make look right. I believe the version i have access to is 8xl.

Check out this link and click on any of the 6 or so links there to kind of get an idea of what i mean.

Thanks guys, ill let you know how it turns out ( if at all 🙂 )

Yes, the cel shader will certainly work, but it’s not very flexible. There’s a much more flexible shader available as a commercial plugin (Wireshader at tools4d.com). Of if you have Sketch & Toon, it can do some awesome wire renders. Yet another option is to put your objects in the Atom Deformer, which turns your geometry into a cage. Lastly, if you have Bodypaint you can create tex maps that follow edges.
