    Hey everyone,

I’m going back to my Cinema tutorials since I’m slow during the holidays and I will have a few questions over the next few days and I would really appreciate any advice you Cinema pros may bestow onto me. 🙂

    I have 9.52

    1. I’d like Cinema to open up every time with all of my materials that I have on my computer. It looks like I have to set that up manually. What is the best method for doing this?

    2. What is the best source for Cinema materials (and models)?

    Thank you!!

    Hello,
the new Content Browser is perfect for this. Use it to browse your texture files and store the search results.
You will already find a bunch of materials there, too, that comes with C4D.
For a start, have a look at https://www.noctua-graphics.de/deutsch/freetex_d.htm
You’ll find a large number of very good materials and shader setups there.

    Kind regards,

Thank you so much for the link!

The content browser seems to show me texture .c4d files in my file system on my computer. Instead of dealing with multiple .c4d files in my file system, I’d like to have all the textures and shaders that I have appear in the Materials palette every time I open Cinema.

I can have Groups in the Materials palette. I could create a Group for Metals, Nature, etc., and have that palette loaded up every time I launch Cinema.

I remember in another post many months ago that said you can have a specific project file open every time you launch Cinema. Do you know how to do that? I could set up a blank project with all my materials in groups and then set it up so that blank project file is loaded every time I launch Cinema.

Thank you so much for your help!

I set up Groups in the Materials palette for various things and imported all my materials into there and sorted them into the groups. I then saved this as “template.c4d” in the root folder of Cinema. This project file gets loaded every time Cinema launches.

    Thanks again for your info!
