    Hello all,
I’m starting a project which is an animation of a flythrough of a large room which starts off photorealistic but then turns into a kind of energy field, similar in effect to the way the binary effect in the matrix movies, but with pulses of light defining the shape of the objects in the room. I’ve had a few ideas here and there but I’m unsure as to the best way to get this.

What I was thinking of doing was using animated textures on the objects in the room and using thinking particles to emit bouncing photons of light around the room at random speeds and intervals. Does this sound feasible/like a good way to go about the project or does anyone have any better suggestions or tips on how to achieve this look?

    Thanks for you help
    Donal

off the bat, I would say you are better off try this with 2 sequences composited in ( fill the blamk with your favorite compositing app here), if you don’t have access to one, then it can get quite tough depending on what effect you want to achieve,
to get an easy afde out you could just key the visibility parameters…

    Thanks for the reply
That’s what I was thinking of doing but it’s more creating the effect and not the compositing I’m having the trouble with. It’s how I set up the scene achieve the look I want if you know what I mean.

If you don’t know it you may want to check ou Strom Tracer at http://www.peranders.com.
It is quite fast for creating effects with sprites,
    may be usefull.
