  • Offer for our show from international pay TV network: crazy?

Posted by Dusty Green on March 14, 2016 at 3:37 pm

    Greetings all,
We have been approached (through our international distributor) by a pay TV network in the Phillipines that wants to carry the first season of our travel show (8×30 min episodes) and they’re wanting an option on the 10 episodes for season two. But they’re offering $400US per episode, which sounds ridiculously, ridiculously, ridiculously low.
Never dealt with international networks or distribution. This would be our first. I don’t even want to consider accepting an offer anywhere near that low, as it seems like it’s just giving the material away and we’d be taking a bath. But my distributor says it’s not an unreasonable offer. Anyone familiar with this process? Is this really the range we should expect?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

You might ant to call Donald Trump to discuss our trade agreement with the Philippines. I think he would agree with you!

Not really an answer, but I agree it seems low, but is probably spot on there.

Sounds like a misplaced decimal point somewhere…
