A rain ripple effect on a layer
Posted by Cassius Handoyo on May 10, 2008 at 8:26 amHi,
I just want to stimulate a ripple effect, similar to what you’ll see on a surface of water on a light rainy day. I just want the ripple on the layer, without the rain… I have tried using the ripple effect but was not really satisfied with the result as it only creates a ripple in one small areas only… Do you know any other effects to create a more realistic ripple? Thanks in advance….

Change the View to Height Map and do a RAM Preview.
That’s probably what you want, but you’ll need to tweak.
See the manual for tweaking details, or find a Wave Warp tutorial online.

Hello Joey,
When you post, you have 30 minutes or until the first person replies to your post to modify and edit your post. Inside your post, the gray box with the links and the search field will contain an “Edit Post” link just below the links for “VIEW POSTS • ADD A NEW POST • SEARCH • CHANGE FORUM”
It will only be there in your own posts and only for 30 minutes or until someone replies to your posts.
Rather than add posts correcting the previous post, you can simply edit your own posts.
Best regards,

May 10, 2008 at 6:00 pmThanks, Ron. I knew there was some sort of time limit on the Edit option, as I’ve used it many times before, and then wondered later why it was missing.
I’ll try to make sure I’ve proofread my post thoroughly from now on, and, like I said, make sure all synapses are fully caffeinated and firing before even attempting a response.Joey Foreman

May 10, 2008 at 8:13 pmRipple will go as big as you want, just jack-up the Radius, but methinks you want to try, CC Drizzle, (under Simulate in AE6.5) for that Rainy Day feeling.

May 12, 2008 at 5:26 amHey thanks for the input… The thing is with wave world I can only create one big ripple, and I need multiple ripple… I think I’ll try the CC drizzle… thanks…
