32 bpc to 8bpc on export?
Hi I seem to be having a problem exporing my 32 bpc project.
I have DV footage that i have applied color correction to in 32bpc mode. It looks much better than when i apply the color effects in 8bpc mode.
I am simply trying to export the color corrected footage back to microsoft DV format.
I think it is exporting the DV as 32bpc too, as the 30 minute file is over 40gb.when i put it back to 8bpc the filesize is a much easier to handle 6gb.
How can i work in 32bpc mode, but still export that down to 8bpc?

It wouldn’t Dave…the layering/blending between colours will be alot more true to life in 32bit float. Even if you output to 8bit it will look different to if you did the CC/layering in 8bit>8bit. Obviously if you can output to 32 or 16bit aswell it will look even better. You’ll get nasty banding in soft gradients in 8bit.

The last section on that page is “Output module settings” under which there is a section titled “Depth.”
Although a DV codec should not support 32bpc, so I think something else strange may be going on here.

Hi Everyone. Thanks for the input and help.
I found the source for my confusion… and as always a stupid mistake. Somehow my DV export preset was overwritten with ‘uncompressed’ in the compression settings.
