I want to have a nav menu that expands over a swf that keeps playing.

It seems that even when just laying a div overtop of a swf, the swf rises above the div when the swf starts moving. I tried using z-index of course. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks.

    hello…

very known issue and there are hacky fixes at best (the hacks aren’t bad in this case – it’s the flash dom layer issue that requires hacks to get around it)…

the cheap fix is wmode=transparent, but that can cause problems in some flash animations based on content – and it won’t work for all browsers…

there are other tricks, but note that it will almost never work in safari on os x – you’re kinda stuck there…but try googling up wmode and transparent or the parent issue can be seen here:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=dhtml+over+flash

and the main macromedia doc on it:

    hope that helps!
