  boris fx within edius

  is it possible to save boris fx transitions within edius 5.2?
  Boris (9.3) works with the latest edius 5.2 – however, if I try to save an effect, restart the program (edius) then reload the saved preset – all i get is a dissolve. The transition is gone.

  Steve,

  How are you saving the “presets”.

  If you work in standalone you can try saving out the Boris FX settings.

  So you launch FX standalone or as a plug, when you get the effect you want choose File> save settings as.

  Then if you want to use those settings again you can simply open them in another instance of the effect.

  thanks for responding.
  I understand that part, but I am trying to streamline and save out multiple fx that I will use repeatedly within edius in the effect window. I want to just drop down individual effects without having to load boris each time and go thru all the different directories, since I’ll probably be using a group of maybe 35 effects all the time. It does work within 1 instance of edius, but once I close the program, and reopen it, I lose the fx. the names are still there, but when applied, they only appear as cuts – with no fx visible.

  As you’re experiencing I’m not sure this is possible.

  Steve,

  I was able to confirm that at this time it is not possible to save host presets in Edius with FX.

  Hi Matt,
  thanks for the quick response and thanks for checking it out.
  Do you think this is something that may be added to boris in the future? Are other systems like FCP or Vegas able to do this with borisFX? I’m not familiar with using either of these. Is there a way to suggest this as a ‘fix’ for the next upgrade?

  It has been brought up as a “feature request”.

  Whether or not it makes it in the next release is uncertain.
