  BCC Make Alpha help on Avid!

  I am trying to crop out part of one shot and put it over another. Normally I would use AniMatte in the Avid (Nitris DX), but I need to move the shot, and when I apply a resize under the animatte it effects the background as well. I read on a different forum that I could use BCC Make Alpha to crop the image and move it no problem. But I don’t see any way to draw a matte. I heard mention of finding a Custom Shape setting, but I can’t find it. What am I missing?

  Hi,

  To draw a spline mask using any BCC filter, you need to the following:

  • Set the PixelChooser to On
  • In the PixelChooser group, twirl down the Region group and select Custom
  • In the Effect Editor window, there is a vertically stacked array of buttons along the right side – click on the second one from the top, which is Custom Spline UI
  • In the Composer window, click and drag to create the shape that you want
