I’ve been working in AE on a 3d sequence and the wierdest thing just started happening…

I have several layers including a 3d camera and light and a bunch of layers in 3d space.

I can select my camera, but when I hit the camera orbit or tract tool in my toolbar, my timeline suddenly skips to select the next layer beneath my camera…. and I cannot use the camera transform tools. I can use the sliders to numerically move the camea, but cannot use the tools.

So for example… I have my camera selected in my timeline, then I go to hit the camera orbit tool, and all of a sudden the tool is greyed out and in my timeline, the camera becomes deselected and the next layer underneath is now selected….

    Anyone encountered this?

How about temporarily locking all the others layers so that the camera is the only thing you can select.

You shouldn’t need to have the camera selected in order to use the Camera tools (orbit, dolly, track). Just select them and click in the comp preview window and drag.

If you’re saying that this isn’t working, then make sure that your view is set to “Active Camera” instead of “Front” or something like that.
