  Migrating RED 3 to RED 4 in FCP

  There have been many questions about moving FCP projects that use RED3 forward to RED4 so here’s what you need to know.

  – RED 3 filters and generators will open with RED 4.1
  – RED 3 Static Generators will need to be relinked manually but can be saved linked
  – The RED 4.1 Static Gen is located in /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins/
  – RED 3 Transitions will not work with RED 4.1 in FCP 5.1.2 and up
  – Transitions will work again in the next major release of FCP

  All tests were conducted using FCP 5.1.4 on a G5 with RED 3.0.5 and RED 4.1.1. Any questions please contact Boris Customer Support.
