    Hey all,

I started getting an error today in AE CS3 stating that it couldn’t import .mov as they’re an unsupported format. I was completely confused about it considering last time I worked on this project, all went smooth as silk. I found Mylenium’s page regarding the error and it being caused by damaged files, but then realized that it’s not project specific– it’s all MOVs. I updated quicktime last week, but can’t remember if it was before or after doing any AE work. If it’s everything, my instinct tells me that it’s the culprit.

So after all of that explanation, my question is simply this. Is there a way to roll back to a previous version of QT? I uninstalled it from my system, but upon exploring apple.com, found only DL links for 7.4.5.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I re-installed it and found the “enable encoding using legacy codecs” option. I checked it and loaded up my AE. Unfortunately, it’s still giving the same error messages. It’s literally ANY mov I try and use.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

I found 7.4.1 on Apple’s site. I installed it and everything is back to normal. I’ve not had troubles with new versions until now but I’ll certainly heed that advice in the future. In case anyone else has the same issues go here and you can get at least 7.4.1 on the right hand side of the page.

Thanks for your help, Dave. I appreciate it.

Even under 7.4.5 the only times I’ve ever seen that error is when an MOV file is missing some of its information, for example if a file transfer didn’t quite complete but you thought it did.

It’s nice to hear you’ve fixed the problem by rolling back. I haven’t had any problems yet.
