Blood spray/drops on camera… how to achieve?
I’m trying to get some blood to appear on the camera lens, as though it’s been sprayed there. I have a shot of someone getting their throat slashed from behind (i.e the victim’s back is to camera, and you see a knife coming up and across the throat in a very fast motion and they fall backwards.) I want to try and get some drops of blood to spatter on to the camera. I’m not talking massive arterial spray. It’s not a horror film, so it has to be realistic on some level. Just a few drops. How would this be best achieved so it looks authentic? I guess one way would be to actually shoot it on a glass plate from behind, then layer that on top… or is there a simpler way?

There’s also a tutorial at videocopilot about creating rain.
I doubt the entire answer is going to be in there, since you also need to create the blood spurt, but you will probably find some helpful things.

Lol, yeah something like that, although that’s a bit more extreme than what I had in mind. Is that computer generated then, or real? Impressive stuff. Your work?
