Location release for Search Engine
I am going to do some screencasts of search engines. The videos will be used for commercial purposes so I was wondering:
1) Anybody know of any Search engines that are cleared for use in commercial videos? Fake or real doesn’t really matter as long as it looks good.
2) Anybody know of any place where I can acquire Location Release of search engines?
I found https://www.search-wise.net/about.htm that states: “This site is a “prop” search engine, cleared for use on Film and Television productions.” but it I don’t think it looks nice.

Here’s a list of Open Source search engines – you might poke through them, find one you like, then contact the developers to make sure that it’s ok to use them in a video. I would assume that since it’s Open Source, it wouldn’t matter, but I also don’t assume anything:

I also sent a request to Bing to see if I would get a response about a location release of filming Bing. It will be curious to see how long time before I get a response 🙂
I guess if all else fails I’ll just have to ask my webmaster to build a nice looking fake 🙂

Another idea, if you have any Photoshop chops, is to just build your own interface, non-functional, then animate the cursor and any text you need in After Effects. You could even “steal” some elements you like from other search engines you like the look of, by doing a screen capture, bring them in to Photoshop, and doctor them up enough that nobody will recognize the source…

If I don’t find an already working one was planning to do the backdrop in photoshop and then add a simple search to the page in html. I can manage photoshop, but my skills in AE needs some improvement before I am there 🙂
