If you loop a camera output into a black & white preview monitor and then the output of the monitor to a switcher will the output from the monitor be in color or b/w?

If it’s a true “loop” it would logically be in color. The question becomes isn’t there some other way, ie.- a second output, so you can send a signal directly to the switcher and not risk adding any extra noise (if analog) or a weakened signal (if digital)?

Thanks Nick, it seemed logical to me as well but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something. We have three sony walled mounted cameras going to a vaddio switcher which only shows one preview source at a time. the switcher has a b/c connection. because of cost I want to use a old quad b/w rack mount monitor, take the output of the cameras into the monitor then the out of the monitor to the switcher.

    James –
Your best advice on this question may come on the “Broadcasting” COW forum. That said, when quality is a concern I’d be cautious of adding anything to an analog chain.
