storyboard software
I’ve been asked for advice on an international project, where the subject experts (who are talented architect/engineers, but not artists) need to provide a storyboard to a real artist overseas.
What is some good, relatively inexpensive software they could use for creating storyboards?

They could probably relate to Google Sketch-up, and Google has a store of free and cheap pre-made content for items your guys may not want to make from scratch. Comes in free and premium modes.
Poser is also used by some folks for this; you don’t need the latest version to be able to do some things with it.
Blender 3-d is a free shareware 3d animation app, coupled with some content from turbosquid, you can mock up various things, but the learning curve is a bit more steep. But these are guys used to CAD software, so they probably would feel more or less at home.

If they are storyboarding something that’s purely technical, another alternative might be to have them work in whatever design program they already use, then export images and sequence them in Powerpoint.
I’d guess they’d need guidance with their storytelling and visualization.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
Now that I have started looking into this, I’ve become interested on my own account. I’ve googled storyboard software, but haven’t found the magical “cheap” and “good” solution yet.

Agreed! I’ve used it to mock up some live events I’ve worked on, from the attendee’s perspective.
I can see how It’d be great for the shot setup part of storyboarding, but how are you managing all the shots?

I don’t have that many shots that need this kind of treatment, so not an issue.
