  Sachtler 20 tripod problem

  Hi there. Long time fan; first time writer.
  I recently had my non-videographer brother assist me in setting up for a large wedding shoot. As he was trying to open up my Sachtler 20 tripod, instead of unclipping the spring-loaded cord that holds the legs together for transport, he snapped the cord instead! I assume it was an accident, but the cord is broken nonetheless.
  This afternoon I inspected the tripod and cannot find a way to disassemble the tripod’s legs.
  Has anybody ever disassembled a Sachtler’s legs?
  I know I can take an old belt or a piece of Velcro and jury-rig a strap, but I’d much rather repair it, if possible.
  Any suggestions on its repair?
