does anyone know if AE on a mac will play ball with Blackmagic AVIs captured on a PC?

I am currently running Adobe Production Premium on a Windows PC and am hoping to migrate over to Mac Pro/Leopard/Adobe CS3 suite and be able to work with my archived AVI-based projects.

Is this going to be a massive problem?

    Thanks.

You need to talk to Blackmagic. I think there’s a forum here on the cow.
The problem is AVI is so 20th Century, it’s been dead so long as a viable architecture, but folks still use it.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

i haven’t tried avi on mac, but i’ve heard of perian, which is a free quicktime component that will give quicktime support of avi… that seems like it would allow you to import old ae projects that contained avi’s.

they have a forum you may want to ask some questions on… particularly about the expectations for a third-party encoded file in an avi container being used in after effects…

Thanks guys, I will check out Perian.

David – I know…the only reason I use AVI is because it is the only format Premiere will let me capture in with the Decklink! I’d use QT if I could!
