    Hello All,
I’d like to treat some footage with the effects they did for the physic challenge episodes. Heavily effected- in particular I’m looking at the layer, almost old photograph frame they’s got on some of the footage. I’m wondering if this is a plugin they’ve used? The edges are dark- the footage palying inside the “soft edge “hole” that’s cut out.
Here’s a link – for the first full length episode.
If anyone knows of the plugin- or can suggest how to create this great layed look, I’d appreciate it.
BTW- tried my hand at a few layer masks- but when I feather the edge to create that great opacity blend they have going- mine just looks to wispy.
    Using a PC, win 2000, AE 6.5.pro.

    Here’s a guess –

They used Magic Bullet Looks (from redgiantsoftware.com)
    – probably with Looks > Special Effects > Benumbed, with added side Grad Exposure tool
    – and Looks > Black & White Tint > Black and White Crunch

and then keyframed to super bloom when required.

Thanks much for reply.I’ve got the older version of MAgic Bullet Suite, V 2.0- but all I’ve ever seen in the looks department are the preset looks. HAve never seen a special effects slot. Maybe I’m overlooking something? Or it’s new to the more current versions.
I wonder if there’s a way to create it with solid layers and noise? I’ll keep trying!
    Thanks

The ‘Special Effects’ is one of the presets in Looks v1.0, now part of Suite 2007. I’ve only got Looks, not the Suite. I think there is an upgrade price for your Suite v2.

Alternative is to download the demo of Looks v1.0, check out the components that I had a ‘guess’ at, and see if you can duplicate it with your Suite.

Thnaks Thomas- I’m running win2000 so I can’t run the new Looks- was looking at the site- so I’ll have to do it the bast I can by layering stuff and playing with noise and try some masking.
    Thanks much

Try Andrew Kramer’s Film Magic Pro (6th down). It’s a bunch of Color style presets for AE and only $50.00! Also Check out Riot Gear. It has Grungy textures you can use for cutting a hole with gritty edges. Both disks will cost you WAY less than Magic Bullet (and the Presets render much faster!)

    Good luck, Chris
