How to relay timecode to a monitor
I’ve got a client that wants me to shoot focus groups while he watches from another room on a monitor. So i’ll need to relay the video to a monitor. He also wants to be able to see the timecode so he can take notes. I’ve never had to do this before, so i’m just curious – will all field monitors (of which i’d have to rent) allow you to display the rolling timecode (i’ll be shooting to tape) on the monitor screen?
Or will I have to rig up some other system so they can view the timecode?

This is a menu function on the camera, that turns on the superimposition of the time code window. Generally any TV monitor with a composite video input should be able to see it, if the camera will output it.

Isn’t the traditional TC superimposition feature for playback mode only? If he needs to provide TC monitoring while in the record mode you might need to run your video output through a Horita TC inserter box, or something similar. I’ve seen the Horitas on E-Bay..I sold mine.
