  Make an image composed of smaller comps or symbols

  Does anybody know how this effect can be achieved? I would like to have a source comp and then apply this effect to it so that the image could be made up of say triangles or some other comp (almost like a halftone screen). Can this be done in After Effects 6.5 Pro or is there a plug-in that can do it?
