  • Importing a file into Compressor from FCP7

Trying to use the “Publish to YouTube” template in Compressor to compress a FCP7 file.

However, when I start in Compressor and use Job>Source>File to import the file, the FCP files in my hard drive aren’t highlighted and can’t be imported/selected.

If I start in FCP, send the project to Compressor, and then choose the “Publish to YouTube” template, it starts a new batch tab – not the tab that includes my FCP project.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Which version of Compressor? The only one you can SEND TO from FCP 7 is 3.5. Any later version and there is no such link. And what do you mean by FCP files?

Best option is to export from FCP 7 as EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE. Don’t recompress…and not QUICKTIME CONVERSION. Just QT movie. This will export a movie with the same settings as your sequence. That will be your master. Bring that into Compressor then to compress for YouTube
