  poor quality video imported from Sony DCR-TRV27

  When I play video recorded on this digicam direct to TV from the camera, the quality is pretty good. When I import to FCP X (10.0) – iMac 27, 10.6.8) – the imported video is very poor…choppy, soft, and full of artifacts. I’m using the firewire cable provided with the camera with a 400-800 adapter. In desperation, I tried importing using iMovie with the same poor results.

  What are your import settings, or are you using one of the “easy setups”? Compare the settings on your timeline with the import settings, see if they truly agree, I bet they don’t.
