MOV file with mono files to stereo pair
I work with ProRess files with stereo and 5.1 sound in it. Often it is 8 discreet mono channels.
Some files I need to run thru Handbrake for an MP4 file BUT Handbrake cant handel mono to stereo conversion.
So I would like a way to change the properties in the mov file of two Audiotracs from Mono to Stereo without importing and exporting in FCP.

As long as I know, Handbrake can’t neither handle Prores stuff.
It doesn’t import it.

Yes it does, it works perfekt.
But disregard handbrake, all I like to know is if you can change two mono tracks in a mov file to a stereo pair

You can open in QT the Properties (Cmd-J), click the Audio channel, and in the “Audio Setting” tab, check the Land R channels as Mono.Good to know that Handbrake now takes Prores.
No long ago it wasn’t possible.

Yes with QTpro propertis Cmd-J you can flag the chanel as LeftTotal and RightTotal but it is still two mono chanels.
You can see the diffrence if you open a mov file with a stereo pair.
a stereo pair is seen as one track/chanel in QTpro and if you mark that you can see under sound settings two tracks.
If you look at a mono file it only has one track witch you can assign a lot of diffrent “flags” as Left Right Center and so on.
So I would like to merge two mono tracks in to one stereo.

Sorry, I got it the other way around.
Then is not just about flags. To get what you want you need to pass the audio through a mixer, so you will need to process it through some application.

He can’t just copy/paste a second channel? Of course, there is phasing to worry about.

Was afraid so, were hoping there were an easy way in for ex QTpro
Takes so darn much time exporting a full hd proress.

Just export and re-import the audio, drop in back into place frame-accurate. Wouldn’t that be faster?
