Hi all, best way to describe my query is: I wish show a small portion of my video with a black background, I can use the crop tool to get the right shape but I want to place the crop at an angle. How can I rotate the crop without rotating the video behind it?

Thanks for reading, hope someone can help!

Less snarky FCP answer: Make a black matte with the rectangular crop as a hole in the matte. Put that on a separate layer. Now you can independently rotate and scale the mask with the rectangular hole, and the program underneath it. When it’s the way you like it, render it out as a separate clip.

Quick and dirty method, just use a garbage mask.
