An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie.
Please somebody help me.
Yesterday everything was good and today I cannot open anything.
All my mov video files, hdv 720p cannot open anymore, I keep getting the message “An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie”.
OSX 10.5.8, quicktime Version 7.7 (1680.25).
Please please someone help me ! -

What happens when you try to open a movie file at the finder level and not with FCP?

Hi Chris, thanks for the interest.
I could not open any mov file anywhere. QT, FCP, Compressor, AE, nothing. So I used pacifist and downgraded QT 7.7 to 7.6.9 and now everything works as expected again. It really pisses me off this kind of thing.
I lost 2 days of work and some money because apple releases an update that screws everything up. -
Thank you for posting on this. The recent quicktime upgrade to 7.7 rendered every one of my quicktime files unusable. To downgrade your existing quicktime, get pacifist and then follow these instructions: https://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/using_pacifist_to_downgrade_quicktime.html
My files work again, and I am considering never doing another software upgrade as this has been truly infuriating.
