Excuse me if this is a dumb question, just started working with DSLR and FCP.

If I encode my footage to PRORES 422 PROXY with MPEG Streamclip. Edit with it.
Re-encode the original H264 files footage with Streamclip to PRORES 422.
    Delete the renders.

Then remove the PROXY footage and when FCP asks reconnect it to the PRORESS 422 footage. re-render.

Would it work? They would be essentially the same files just a higher resolution right?

I have had a look around and seen things involving media manager, but as I’ve already cut the project in PROXY I don’t want to go back to square one again.

Any help would rock my world.

    Thanks,

    Ben
