I am shooting a short film on the Canon 5D and want to learn more about converting the footage to ProRes. What is the difference between ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes 422 LT? Which one is better to use in different circumstances?

Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Data rate. LT is 115MB/s…HQ is 220MB/s. So HQ files are twice the size of LT files.

But with the 5D, there will be zero quality difference between LT and HQ. HQ is meant for 10-bit camera original formats, like RED or AVCIntra. 5D’s h.264 is 8bit, so LT will be fine.
