I have 15-20 mini dv tapes from at least 5 years back. I know that I have some of the footage on a drive (but only the stuff I needed at the time, so it’s far from complete). What I’d like to do is to completely log and capture all the tapes. Should I just capture the DV footage and keep it in DV format or into something like Prores for archiving? If I have time, I may edit a little something out of it, but that’s secondary. The end destination would be my drives and DVDs of the archival material/edited version for my pops. Thanks in advance.

It’s DV. Capture it as DV, and keep it as DV until you have some reason to make it into something else.

    All the best,

    Tom
