I’m color grading a project for which I received an FCP project file full of ProRes footage made from stuff shot on DSLR…Canon 7D, I think. For some reason, in the Motion tab, all the Aspect Ratios are 12.5 and all the scales are 114. I’m certain that this wasn’t done on purpose by the editor, and I assume that it’s all some kind of default. I’ve never run into it before, so I’m wondering if anybody can shed any light.

I’m 99.999% certain it’s a mistake, and if it is, the project will never be as good as it should be unless it is fixed. However, as the colorist, not the editor, you’d best check to make sure, since it’s not part and parcel of your job description on this particular project.

Or the footage has been wrongly interpreted (pixels?), or the sequence is not properly set (conformed to footage?).
Those cameras made only 1920×1080 or 1280×720 and always Square pixels.
    No much room to mistakes.
Make sure the sequence has the proper size/pixels, and see what happens if you Remove Attributes: Basic Motion/Distort”.

Thanks. Yeah you guys came to the same conclusions I did. The sequence settings are all correct…I talked to the director & none of that was done on purpose. I guess it is, and shall remain, a mystery.
