  Exporting an .mov defaults to open back in Final Cut

  I am new to final cut and I am hoping for a quick solution.

  I want to export an .mov file and when I reopen that file from my desktop I would like the file to open with quicktime by default instead of opening back in final cut.

  It is almost like the file is proprietary to final cut.

  Any help would be appreciated.

  It’s not proprietary, but it can seem that way. You can either right click on the file and use “open with” or open the from within QT Player.

  Click on one of the movies.

  CMD-I get information.

  Set the OPEN WITH: to QuickTime

  Change all.

  FCP will leave .mov alone after that.
