    You have to move the clips behind to leave room for the extension.
    Click-drag the tail of the clip to fill the gap.

    or bring up the Trim Edit window and click on the side that you want to extend, then it’ll shove the other side along the timeline to make room (I think that’s what you’re after)

    Look up the Ripple tool. I think that’s what you’re after.

    (Check out slip, slide and roll while you’re at it. Very useful.)
