    Hi,

I am wondering why Log and Transfer will show media from one camera (Sony HDR-CX110E) but not another (Sony DCR-SX43E). Both flash card based cameras but the HDR-CX110E is HD and records as AVCHD format. The other camera is MPG2, I believe.

Shouldn’t all devices, hard drives, cameras attached via usb be readable with Log and Transfer in FCP7?

    Your advice would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Should? Yes. Is? No.

Apple provides an API for Camera manufacturers to have their cameras be readable via Log and Transfer, but Apple only does a small set of cameras that do this (think about it – each time a manufacturer did something ‘different’, Apple would have to buy the camera, figure it out, and add it to FCP)

MPG2 is best converted via MPEG Streamclip (you’ll see buckets of posts here on the cow on this app.)
