  Getting a clean render from 800×600 original

  I am using an RGB2USB box to record the output of a computer’s 800×600 screen to video clips using MPEG 4.2. I am bringing the resulting clips (which look really nice) into Final Cut Express, where I’m editing them and adding some titles.

  Now, I need to render the edited clips to a format that can be burned to DVDs for training purposes. However the output looks nasty. Text is blurred and “doubled” looking. I’m sure this it’s just a matter of choosing the right output format, but so far I haven’t stumbled across one that looks OK.

  Given what I am presently using, what’s the best thing I can do to capture/edit/render/save good clean video for DVD?

  Hi dane,
  The issue here is the size.
  DVDs only supports 720×480 (NTSC) or 720×576 (PAL).
  You need to stick with one of them.

  Thanks Rafael. Since the computer I’m capturing is 800×600, I assume my only recourse is to crop the screen size in the clips. Does that sound correct?

  I imagine you are working with Squared pixels.
  I guess that you will need to resize and crop.
