I have 2 sequences in a project both of them are 720×576 CCIR 601/DV PAL 5:4, PAL -CCIR 601 (720×576) Anamorphic UNCHECKED Field dominance lower (even) Compressor DVPal 25fps interlaced 4:3.

My problem is that whilst sequence A fills my canvas and viewer windows almost entirely and the picture is normal all the subjects in it look fine. However Sequence B is letter-boxed at the sides and the subjects are elongated and squashed at the sides.

Sequence B was created by clicking on clips from Sequence A, any ideas what’s going on?

    Many thanks

Please give the exact item properties of the clips that you’re are editing into the sequence. Check the item properties of the sequences again.

    All the best,

    Hi Tom,

The item properties are all DVPal 25 fps, it’s just on one sequence the clips appear fine and on the other letter-boxed.

The fix could be as simple as simply checking the anamorphic checkbox in sequence settings. However, it might be a case of operator error that happened because your Easy Setup does not match the sequence settings of the sequence that displays properly. When that is the case, all new sequences are created to match whatever your Easy Setup dictates, rather than the sequence settings of the sequence in which you’ve been working. And so, the video copied into the new sequence will end up being scaled to fit.

It’s a computer. If you do the exactly the same thing the computer will always produce the same result. The only things that can be different are the clip and the sequence specifications. You have to find what’s different. I can’t do it from here.

    All the best,

Yeah it’s a mystery guys, I’ve already considered the things you’ve said and I’ve checked, checked and checked again, but this does tally with my experience of Macs (don’t all shout at once!) they just seem to go a bit mad now and again.

I’ve sorted the problem by simply starting a new sequence and starting again, annoying, but it works.

Many thanks for your help guys
