    Hi,

I feel like I would have been better to have come to fcp knowing nothing instead of having an Avid background.

OK, my friend gave me his camcorder mini disks. I imported the vob’s to compressor and exported as ProRes SD progressive so I could edit in fcp. (Reading various posts made me think that was the best codec to use in fcp) I have no audio. Kindly tell me what I’m doing wromg.

Now I wonder if I should just convert to QT in ProCoder3 and skip compressor, except I’d like to get the hang of it.

Might have been a setting in compressor that killed the audio. Prores is the codec you want to work with. Try Mpeg streamclip to do your conversion.
