digitizing dv tapes for an institutional video archive
As some of you know, we are digitizing tapes to produce an image archive. We have met a problem working with DV as FCP will not recognize individual shots as independent clips as we capture a whole tape.
We have used Mark DV start/stop detect. We have tried to make independent clips using Modify: Making sequence clips independent, and also making sub clips of the whole sequence or master clip. However, we don’t know where to locate these independent clips or subclips. Where are the individual clips stored? We are trying to export them all at the same time as quicktimes and have not been able to do so.
Working with each individual subclip is too time consuming so we are wondering if you guys have an idea on how to do this more efficiently.

A subclip is not stored anywhere, they are just boundary markers to the original full clip (that is why you can remove them at any time.
You may want to check out https://www.videotoolshed.com/product/13/recut
I believe that will give you the quickest path to separate clips.
