  XDCAM EX 1080p24 footage won’t play in quicktime!

  I have Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 installed on my MacBook pro and I am trying to edit quicktime (.mov) files in XDCAM EX 1080p24 format, but when these files are opened in Quicktime Player I get a message saying a codec/component is needed to play the file. It doesn’t specify the codec, it just says I need it (helpful right? *sigh*) Anyway, does anyone know what codec I need to install to get these files to play in quicktime and so that i can ultimately edit them in FCP???

  Look in your root /Library folder (the one at the top level of your hard disc along with /Application, /System, /Users etc) … find the QuickTime folder and within that folder find the AppleHDVCodec.component file … Get Info on that file and post back with the Version number for it.
